Arch & Tower
Raised from Soda Canyon stone in 1877, the Borreo now stands alone in the center of town, most recently home to a rustic brewery. Tight budgeting nudged thoughtful choices about what to celebrate and what to update. We revised plumbing but left ductwork exposed and plaster raw, and sanded and stained the plywood subfloor to a sheen new could envy. Heavy circles of light steeled into the open-truss ceiling include pale and dark, lush and clean, in a shared glow as warming as good wine. The bar and blackened barn doors that seclude private tasting were borrowed from Oakville, bringing the familiar to the rediscovered and continuing legacy through the temporary.
We greet unknowns with curiosity and confidence, knowing we’ll find a wise way together.
