House on the Ridge
Our art-loving clients commissioned this sculpture of a home as a refuge from harsh Minnesota winters.
Its modern design, by Michael Maltzan, contrasts the grace of steel and exotic wood with rough stone gathered from a local vineyard. Seamlessly melding these diverse materials into complex shapes without moldings or exposed connections demanded close attention. Building under a canopy of green leaves, we safely settled the house into the embrace of sun-glazed trees.
